SUMMER UPDATE, JULY 22, 2021
or
Why our summer office / store hours are erratic.
The crazy rush of prepping and launching boats is lingering at low pressure, and summer maintenance looms before us. For me, it was a grueling spring, and I decided mid-June that we need to reorganize the boatyard operations this summer so that I can bring in office help for the hauling season as a developing cooperative, not as a business. Personally, I don’t need a job, and I don’t want to run a business. I want to use my resources to join a growing international movement and transform John Peck’s boat yard into a Cooperative.
If you don’t know much about Cooperatives, The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) captures the essence with this statement:
“Cooperatives are people-centred enterprises owned, controlled and run by and for their members to realise their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations. …Cooperatives bring people together in a democratic and equal way.”

As a result of putting our energy into the transition to a Cooperative, our office and store hours this summer will be erratic. We will still take on transport and mast jobs for existing customers, and will remain fully accessible by phone and email.
I will also be posting updates, introducing new core members, and further developing relationships with other boatyard tenants — including the crew at Cape Cod E-foil Club, who, as resident members of Pecks’ Maritime Collaborative, are selling one of the coolest water “toys” you have seen. Keep an eye on this website for links to some crazy videos of me learning to “fly over water” on an eFoil. Meanwhile, enjoy your summer, stay safe, and stay tuned.
